Wolfenstein is an action-packed video game set in a near-fictional, historical WWII setting. Wolfenstein is the direct sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny/Wolfenstein RPG. It features a re-imagined disguised dark-haired B.J. Blazkowicz, retaining the unshaven look seen in Return to Castle Wolfenstein and dressed in civilian clothes rather than his usual military uniform. The game mainly consists of Blazkowicz shooting through hordes of different types of Nazis, ranging from normal soldier to ninjas, with typical WWII weapons such as German MP40 or K98 rifle at his disposal.

As he progresses through the game Blazkowicz discovers an ancient medallion which grants him four powerful abilities: Veil Sight, Slow Time, Shield Power and Super Strength. These powers are activated by entering "the Veil", allowing him see enemies more clearly, using flying creatures as bombs or protecting himself with a shield . To use these abilities however he needs power spots that are almost invisible in the real world but scattered throughout levels for him to find and refill energy reserves for each ability..

Overall Wolfenstein is an action packed shooter full of intense battles against Nazi forces where players must rely on their wits combined with their skills and special powers granted by mysterious medallion if they want prevail over evil forces led by Hitler\'s regime .
