Mafia II is a critically acclaimed open world action-adventure video game developed by 2K Czech and published by 2K Games. The game takes place during the 1940s and 1950s in fictional Empire Bay, based on New York City and other larger American cities. The storyline for Mafia II follows Vito Scaletta, son of Sicilian immigrants to America, as he rises through the ranks of the Falcone crime family.

The player starts off with Vito's rise from petty criminal on the streets of Empire Bay to becoming a made man alongside his best friend Joe Barbaro. Alongside this story arc come various missions which involve carrying out hits, stealing cars or smuggling goods across town. As you progress through the game’s storyline you will be able to purchase new outfits and weapons that become available as you rank up within the family hierarchy.

As well as its engaging single-player campaign mode, Mafia II also offers an online multiplayer mode known as Mafia Wars that allows players to join forces with their friends or take on rival gangs in various modes such as deathmatch or team deathmatch among others. There are also additional downloadable content packs released periodically which offer more weapons and clothing options for customizing your character along with new vehicles for use during missions thus adding more value to an already immersive experience provided by Mafia II .
