Demigod combines elements from real time strategy games with role playing elements to create a unique gaming experience. Players take on the role of one of eight demigods who each possess their own special skills and abilities as they strive towards ascending to godhood. The game features two distinct modes: skirmish mode which allows players to practice and hone their skills before embarking on more challenging levels; and campaign mode where players can progress through increasingly difficult levels while gaining experience points and unlocking new areas along their journey towards ascension.

One particularly notable feature of Demigod is its innovative use of persistent character development (PCD).
