Hearts of Iron III is a grand strategy video game developed by Paradox Interactive, set in World War II. Players can choose to play as any nation from 1936 to 1948 with more than 150 countries to choose from and over 10,000 land provinces making it five times more detailed than its predecessor Hearts of Iron 2. The game provides players the ability to control the oceans with aircraft carriers, submarines and battleships as well as using their air force for defense, support naval/ground forces and bombing enemies. It also features an array of customizable options such as assigning troops to theatres on the map for two-front wars and a new economic system allowing players to buy weapons overseas. Furthermore, there are thousands of historically accurate real-world military commanders/politicians provided alongside an intelligent AI system that aids in command decision making while providing realistic interactions within the diplomatic/political system.

Call of Duty: Black Ops, developed by Treyarch, is the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. It is rumored to be a first-person shooter set during the Cold War period. The game will feature an extensive single player campaign and competitive multiplayer modes as part of its core gameplay experience. This will be the second time in the series that it has gone back to a period prior to World War II, with 2008's Call Of Duty: World At War being set during WW2. With Black Ops, players can expect new weapons and technology from this era along with classic elements from previous entries in the series such as zombies mode and online play for up to 16 people simultaneously.

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is a video game set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944. Players take on the role of Marine recruit Tom Conlin and fight against the Imperial Japanese Army, starting with Pearl Harbor and leading up to the battle at Tarawa Atoll. The game features an array of authentic weapons for players to use, as well as new multiplayer modes allowing up to 32 players from different armies such as American, British and Japanese forces. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault follows previous entries in the series with a brand new arsenal weapons, enemies and storyline.
