The Simpsons Game is the video game adaptation of the popular animated television series The Simpsons. Developed by Electronic Arts, this installment brings gamers a unique storyline written by Tim Long, Matt Selman and Matt Warburton. In this self-referential plot, the Simpson family discovers that they must participate in yet another video game based on their own show.

The premise of The Simpsons Game is that it takes place within a virtual world known as "Springfield". As players progress through the story mode, they assume control of Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa who each have an array of special abilities to help them complete various missions throughout Springfield. These abilities include Homer’s ability to temporarily transform into a “Homer Ball” to reach tight spots; Bart's skateboard skills; Lisa's yoga poses which allow her to manipulate objects; and Marge’s megaphone which can be used for attracting attention or scaring away enemies. As players progress through levels and accomplish mission objectives they ultimately unlock additional characters such as Grandpa Simpson and Maggie with even more capabilities for completing tasks in different areas of Springfield.

In addition to its single player story mode, The Simpsons Game also offers plenty of multiplayer action via split screen coop play allowing two players join forces at once while trading off character control during gameplay sessions lasting up to four hours long according to developer estimates!
