Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell is a fast-paced first-person shooter video game developed by People Can Fly and published by DreamCatcher Interactive. The story follows Daniel Garner, who finds himself in hell after an unfortunate car accident and must fight his way out to save his soul from the forces of evil that are out to enslave it for eternity. Players take control of Daniel as he battles his way through hordes of enemies in intense firefights while exploring the depths of hell.

The game features a single-player campaign with 14 levels set across four different zones within hell, each designed with its own unique visual style and atmosphere. Players can access numerous weapons throughout their journey, including chainguns, rocket launchers, shotguns and more. Additionally, players have access to demons which they can summon to aid them in battle or use special “tarot card” powerups which grant temporary invulnerability or additional firepower.

Battle Out Of Hell also includes various multiplayer modes such as deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag for up to 16 players online or over LAN connection . There is also an expansion pack titled Painkiller: Overdose released later on featuring new weapons , characters , gameplay modes and environments .
