The Last Story is an action role-playing game by Mistwalker, released in 2012 for the Wii console. In this title, players take control of Zael, a mercenary searching for work on the island fortress of Lazulis. The world of Lazulis is slowly being drained of life by a mysterious force and it is up to Zael and his band of mercenaries to investigate and save it.
Gameplay revolves around controlling Zael as he fights battles that involve action, tactical elements, and stealth. During missions, players will be able to command their squadmates which consist mainly of other mercenaries but also includes NPCs (non-player characters) like townspeople or knights. Additionally there are some puzzle solving elements included at certain points throughout the game.
As far as visuals go The Last Story stands out from its peers with lush environments that truly bring Lazulis to life while still managing to maintain a sense of mystery due its ongoing plotline involving the draining force threatening the land; all complemented with great music composed especially for this title. It also features both single player mode as well as online multiplayer allowing players to team up or compete against each other in various challenges such as treasure hunts or battle arenas depending on how much challenge they want!
