Video game Parasite Eve is a survival horror action role-playing game and the sequel to Hideaki Sena’s novel of the same name. It is also the first installment in the Parasite Eve video game series. The events of this game take place two years after those described in the novel, when an outbreak of mutated cells called “Neo Mitochondria Creatures” (NMCs) begins terrorizing New York City. Players take control of NYPD officer Aya Brea as she investigates these strange occurrences and tries to save humanity from destruction.

The gameplay for Parasite Eve places emphasis on both combat and exploration, with players exploring various locations around NYC while engaging in battles against NMCs using weapons such as firearms, melee weapons, and special abilities known as “Parasite Energy” or PE powers. Combat takes place through a turn-based system where players can strategically plan out their moves before attacking enemies.
