Far Cry 3 is an open world first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the third installment of the Far Cry series, following 2008's Far Cry 2. The single-player story follows protagonist Jason Brody as he deals with a group of pirates on an island in the South Pacific Ocean called Rook Island.

The premise of Far Cry 3 revolves around its tropical setting, which allows players to explore freely within it. Players are able to traverse between different parts of the island either on foot or via vehicles such as boats and hang gliders.
