The Lost Child is a first-person RPG dungeon crawler set in the present day and continuing the El Shaddai series. Players take on the role of an investigative journalist who discovers a mysterious device called the Gangour while on assignment. With this device, they can capture creatures from other dimensions to fight alongside them in turn-based battles.

Players explore dungeons full of puzzles and enemies as they progress through The Lost Child's story. These dungeons contain random encounters with creatures which can be captured by using special items during battle, then added to your team. Captured creatures can also be combined together for more powerful monsters to join your party.

The combat system uses a classic turn-based approach where players must choose between attacking, defending or using items as their main strategies. Each creature has its own unique abilities so it’s important for players to make wise decisions when selecting their team members and deciding how best to use each one’s skillset in battle against enemies.
