Tales of Hearts R is a video game centered around protagonist Kor Meteor, who lives in a small village and learns the ways of the sword from his grandfather. When he impresses his grandfather with increasing skill, he is given an atypical weapon - a Soma. During their search for another Soma, they meet Kohaku Hearts and her brother Hisui. Unfortunately, they are met by a mysterious witch who casts a spell on Kohaku's Spiria (the embodiment of her heart and soul). In an attempt to lift the spell, Kor connects to her Spiria but accidentally shatters it instead. Now armed only with his grandfather’s Soma weapon, Kor must embark on an adventure to restore Kohaku’s Spiria Core and make her whole again.
