Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is an action video game that was released in 2008 and encompasses three versions for different platforms. The full 3D version of the game was made available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 while a 2.5D sidescrolling beat em up action game could be found on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 (called Amazing Allies Edition). A 2.5D side-scrolling brawler/platformer version also exists for the Nintendo DS.

Players take control of Spider-Man as he attempts to save New York City from a mysterious symbiote invasion by using his web-slinging abilities along with his superhuman strength, agility and spider senses to combat armed forces controlled by Venom's allies as well as other supervillains such as Doctor Octopus, Hobgoblin and Sandman. Players have the ability to choose which missions they want to complete in order to progress through levels within the overall storyline according to their own preferences. Additionally, there are many upgrades available throughout gameplay including new costumes that can provide extra powers and additional health regeneration capabilities among others.

The game also features two distinct paths; one being focused more on heroism where players make choices based around protecting innocent citizens while maintaining order in New York City or its opposite - villainy – where players focus primarily on destruction leaving chaos in their wake without any thought given towards saving anyone else caught up during battles between villains or heroes alike.

Unfortunately due to licensing issues all digital storefronts de-listed Spider Man: Web of Shadows from sale effective January 1st 2014 meaning it cannot currently be purchased although physical copies are still floating around if you're lucky enough find them!
