Shenmue III is a video game released in 2019, continuing the story of Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue II. The story begins in 1980s Yokosuka, Japan with Ryo's father murdered by Lan Di, the boss of an underground organization. To unravel this mystery and avenge his father's death, Ryo travels to Hong Kong where he meets Ren Wuying and Yuanda Zhu before Lan Di escapes. Following his target to Bailu Village in Guilin, China, Ryo meets Shenhua Ling who changes his destiny forever as they search for answers about the mysterious twin mirrors. As we move into chapter seven of the eleven-part story arc that began with Shenmue I, players will join Ryo as he continues to pursue Lan Di while discovering what fate holds for him and Shenhua along the way.

Shenmue III is an upcoming action-adventure video game and the long awaited sequel to 2001's Shenmue II. Players control Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist on a quest to find his father’s killer in 1980s China. The story picks up from where the previous installment left off with Ryo travelling throughout rural China seeking justice for his father’s death.

In 2015, series creator Yu Suzuki launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to help fund Shenmue III. To everyone's surprise, it met its initial target of $2 million USD in under eight hours! By the end of the campaign, over 69 thousand backers pledged more than $6 million making it the most funded video game in Kickstarter history at that time.

The tremendous success of this crowdfunding campaign shows just how much gamers around the world are looking forward to playing Shenmue III when it releases later this year. Fans have been waiting 18 years since Shenmuw II was released back in 2001 and now their patience has finally paid off as they get ready for one last journey with Ryo Hazuki during his search for revenge across 80s China.
