Electroplankton (2006)
Electroplankton is a touchable media art game that uses the DS's two screens to present players with calming music and visuals. There are 10 digital planktons that interact with players when they tap or use the microphone. These planktons respond by making gestures and sounds of their own. All about game Electroplankton
Electroplankton is a unique and innovative video game for the Nintendo DS handheld console. Released in 2006, it allows players to interact with animated plankton and create music through one of ten different interfaces. The first-run edition of Electroplankton was bundled with a set of blue colored ear bud headphones which add an extra layer to the experience.
The game offers two modes: Performance and Audience. In Performance mode, the user interacts with the plankton by using their stylus, touchscreen or microphone. This allows them to experiment with various musical sounds as they play around - creating something entirely new each time! Audience mode simply allows users to sit back and enjoy a continuous show put on by all of the plankton while still being able to interact with them when desired. It's like having your own mini concert!
As well as providing hours of fun for individuals playing alone, Electroplankon also supports up to four simultaneous players so friends can get together for some creative music making sessions too! With its simple yet engaging gameplay mechanics and quirky visuals, this title has become somewhat cult classic since its release over 10 years ago - offering something truly special that no other game could replicate at the time (or even now!).
