The game follows John McClane, an NYPD officer played by Bruce Willis in the movie, as he attempts to stop a terrorist attack on the Nakatomi Plaza building in Los Angeles. Players take control of McLane and must complete various objectives while fighting off terrorists and rescuing hostages throughout the building.

The levels are based on sets from the movie, which have been faithfully recreated for an authentic Die Hard experience.
