All about game City of Villains

City of Villains is an award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Cryptic Studios and released in 2005 as an expansion to the popular City of Heroes title. The game was designed to add a darker, more villainous element to the world of superheroes featured in City of Heroes.

Unlike its predecessor, City of Villains could be played without purchasing the original game; instead it was available as a stand-alone release known as an expanshalone product. This allowed players who weren't interested in playing heroes to jump right into their evil alter egos and begin wreaking havoc across Paragon City and beyond. In addition to this option, buying either City of Heroes or CoV would unlock accesss both titles at no extra cost after NCSoft's acquisition on 2008.

The main features that set CoV apart from other MMORPGs included five new character archetypes exclusive to villains, new maps such as Mercy Island, Strobe Alley and Croatoa ,and the introduction for PvP Zones (versus Arena). Players also had access over 40 powersets ranging from Fire Blast and Ice Manipulation all the way up Nuclear Blast - providing them with ample opportunites for customization when creating their own unique characters.

For those looking for physical merchandise related to CoV upon its release in 2005 there were four CD-ROMs for installation current through Issue 6 sold together with one limited edition HeroClix figure depicting some key characters from within the Rogue Isles universe along with a poster map showcasing all major locations found throughout these islands . A serial code also gave owners access not onlyt othe game but one month free play time too!
