Original War is a real-time strategy game developed by Altar Interactive and released in 2001. It takes place in an alternate timeline where a mysterious extraterrestrial mineral has been discovered in Siberia, leading to the development of time travel technology. The player assumes the role of a commander from one of three factions - United States, Russia or the Alliance - as they battle for control over this new resource.

The story follows an American geological expedition sent out to assess natural resources deep within Eastern Russia who instead discover a deposit of unknown minerals that turns out to be identical to the substance used to power an ancient alien artifact known as EON. Experiments with this object have shown that it can transport items back in time by hundreds of thousands years, but human science has so far been unable to understand its construction or synthesize its fuel source. Thus, all three nations race against each other for victory and dominance over this newfound power source before their enemies do so first.

In Original War players will have access to modern combat units such as tanks, helicopters and infantry alongside futuristic vehicles like robots and hovercrafts when engaging enemy forces on fully destructible battlefields across both land and sea environments. Players also gain access to special abilities such as weather manipulation which can be used strategically against their opponents at any given moment during battle sequences or even during tactical planning phases between missions or campaigns.
