NieR: Automata is a critically acclaimed action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and directed by Yoko Taro. The game is set in the future, where humanity has been driven from Earth to the moon due to an alien invasion. In their absence, machines have taken over Earth and are now at war with each other for control of it. Players take on the roles of three androids - 2B, 9S and A2 - who are tasked with reclaiming the planet from these powerful machines.

The story follows 2B, 9S and A2 as they fight against a variety of enemies ranging from smaller robots to large bosses while exploring an open world filled with secrets to uncover. Along the way they must contend with moral dilemmas that come up as they question what it means to be human in this new world. The gameplay consists of hack-and-slash combat combined with some light platforming sections which mix together nicely for a satisfying experience overall.

The visuals in NieR: Automata are stunningly beautiful; its post-apocalyptic setting creates a dark yet vibrant atmosphere that draws players in further into its story. It also features an outstanding soundtrack composed by Keiichi Okabe, whose music perfectly captures both the sorrowful themes throughout the game as well as its more upbeat moments when fighting against enemies or traversing through areas faster than before with your flight unit equipped .
