Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s is the third installment in the popular Guitar Hero series. It was released in July 2007 and features a 1980s theme, including songs from that era as well as playable characters, fashions and artwork reflective of that time period. Players use a guitar-shaped controller to simulate playing rock music by hitting notes scrolling towards them.

The game was not received as favorably as prior titles due to its lack of new gameplay features and reduced soundtrack. However, it does feature some classic tracks from legendary artists such as Van Halen, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Ozzy Osbourne and more! Fans of classic rock are sure to appreciate the selection of songs made available with this title.

Rocks the 80s is also noteworthy for being developed by Harmonix before they moved on to create Rock Band; making it one of their final contributions to the Guitar Hero franchise before Activision's Neversoft division took over development duties with Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock.
