The game is set 500 years after its predecessor, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (released in 2003). Players take control of Luso as they embark on an epic quest that involves battling monsters and other adversaries using strategic tactics. The main goal is to help different clans resolve their disputes while recruiting new members along the way.

Players can customize each character’s abilities depending on what job they choose from a variety of options like Black Mage, White Mage or Samurai. Each job has its own unique skillset that can be further honed through practice battles against computer opponents or even other players via wireless connections. This allows players to create custom squads tailored specifically towards their play style and strategy.
