FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage is a rebuilt and improved version of the classic FlatOut 2 game, developed specifically for Xbox 360. It features 12 cars racing on screen up from eight cars in FlatOut 2; five all-new single player and two all-new Xbox Live multiplayer modes including ‘Hunter & Prey’, ‘Beat The Bomb’ and ‘Frag Derby’. It also has downloadable content support with widescreen HD resolution (1280x720) as well as dynamic lighting and shadowing with real-time environment mapping on all vehicles. This version also includes an increased polygon count of 20,000 per vehicle compared to 5,000 in FlatOut 2 as well as 7,000-8,000 dynamic objects per track up from 5,000 in FlatOut 2. There are also dynamic shadow maps for every single moving and static 3D object on each circuit along with parallax mapping for skid marks used in off-road tracks and mud surfaces. Lastly there are improved particle effects such as dust, dirt smoke and water.
