Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is the latest installment in the popular Disgaea series of tactical role-playing video games. The game takes place in a world dominated by an evil demon emperor known as Void Dark, who has taken control of numerous Netherworlds with his vast army, known as The Lost. Players take on the role of Overlords from different Netherworlds and must form alliances to fight against Void Dark's forces and reclaim their lands.

The game introduces several new systems not seen within prior titles in the Disgaea series, such as powerful new weapons called "Reincarnation", which allows players to level up their characters quickly and easily; a Revenge Meter that increases when allies are defeated or attacked; and various upgrades for each character class. In addition, battles are now supported by up to 100 characters on screen at once compared to just 10 characters in earlier PlayStation 3 titles.

Players will also get access to exclusive 'Alliance Attacks', where multiple allied units can join together during battle for devastating effects. These attacks can be customised depending on how many units have joined together, allowing players to create unique strategies based around them. Furthermore, there's also a special item system which adds more depth into battles when using items instead of combat abilities alone - with some items being able to alter enemy placements or even increase stats dramatically during battle!
