The Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo video game is set in a futuristic world where humanity has created the GEAR System, allowing pilots unprecedented control and maneuverability with their machines. Developed by the Atsuga Corporation sometime in the middle of the 21st century, this system was further developed to create man-operated mechs and robots known as GEARs.

In Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo players take on the role of a rookie pilot who must fight against an alien threat known as ‘the Other’. In order to do so they must equip themselves with powerful mechs and customize them using various parts available from shops around town. Players can also use special abilities such as repair or upgrade their mechs, collect items for upgrades or money, battle enemy forces and complete missions to progress through the story mode.

Players have access to three distinct classes of gear which each have unique stats that can be customized according to player preference; Assault type gears focus on close range combat while Sniper types are better at long distance attacks and Balanced type gears offer well rounded capabilities across both short and long distances respectively. The game also features online multiplayer modes where players can team up with friends or strangers alike in co-op missions or compete against each other in intense battles featuring up to eight teams competing simultaneously.
