Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is an 8-bit style action game created by Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates. Players take on the role of Zangetsu, a demon slayer with a deep grudge, who must travel through perilous lands to defeat a powerful demon in a dark castle. Along the way, players can recruit other adventurers as playable characters with unique abilities to help them traverse treacherous stages and unlock new paths. Recruiting these adventurers will also change the difficulty of the game and may even affect its ending. It was promised as part of a Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night in 2015.

Video game fans rejoice! The much-anticipated 8-bit style prequel to the popular Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is here and it’s everything we hoped for! “Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon” brings us back to the classic 2D action games of the 80s, complete with retro charm.

Players take control of one of four characters that can be interchanged at any time during gameplay – Zangetsu, a sword-swinging exorcist; Miriam, a whip-wielding heroine; Alfred, a magic using alchemist; and Gebel who can turn into a bat and take to the skies. Each character has its own unique set of abilities which allows you to switch between them depending on what situation best requires their skillset. What’s more is that each character has multiple endings depending on how they interact with other characters in the game.

The graphics are classic 8 bit but don’t let this fool you - this project was made possible by Kickstarter backers who supported its 2015 campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night and many updates have been made since then to ensure an enjoyable experience worthy of its predecessor. So if you're looking for some nostalgia or just want an awesome 2D action game packed with retro charm, “Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon” won't disappoint.
