Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei is a video game set in Japan’s Heian period during the civil war of Genpei (1180-1185). It follows the story of Shanaou, the last daughter of Minamoto and one of the most famous generals in Japanese history. The player takes control of Shanaou as she strives to protect her clan from their adversaries, two powerful clans called Yorimoto and Taira.

The core gameplay consists mainly of real-time battles between large armies with a focus on strategic decisions making. Players will have to manage resources such as troops, equipment, food supplies and morale in order to succeed on each battle.
