The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is an epic, open-ended single-player game where players create and play whatever character they can imagine. Players take on the role of a hero embarking on an epic quest, or a thief rising to leadership of their guild. Characters may be malevolent sorcerers developing spells of destruction or reverent healers searching for cures to plagues. The player's actions determine how their characters grow and evolve as events unfold in response to those actions. If the player confronts the assassin's guild, they will send out contracts against them; however if they impress them instead, then there is potential for recruitment into the guild instead. Every experience within Morrowind is unique as no two sagas are ever quite alike!

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is a first-person WRPG and third mainline entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise. It takes place on the island of Vvardenfell, an exotic land plagued by disease-carrying storms and ruled by a godly Tribunal. Players arrive in the Morrowind province of Tamriel with a prophecy foretelling the second coming of Nerevar, who will supposedly save Morrowind from malicious clans both within and outside Vvardenfell.

Morrowind offers players an open world full of exploration as well as quests to complete for experience points that can be used to level up their character's stats or skillsets. The game also features nonlinear gameplay with no set order in which events must transpire; instead, each quest has multiple solutions depending on how players choose to approach it. Additionally, there are several guilds within Vvardenfell – including Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, Imperial Cult – providing many opportunities for side activities like stealing from NPCs or completing dungeon raids for rewards such as gold and items.
