State of Mind is a unique video game that explores the concept of transhumanism. Set in a dystopian future, State of Mind delves into themes surrounding separation, disjuncture and reunification. The game follows the story of Richard Nolan, who finds himself caught between two realities: one based around a materialistic world with all its problems and struggles; and another set in a virtual utopia free from poverty or conflict.

The player must navigate their way through this dual reality as they attempt to piece together what has happened to them and how their lives have become intertwined between these two environments. Along the way they will meet other characters whose own stories are similarly bound within this fractured reality, each attempting to make sense out of an ever-changing landscape filled with mystery and intrigue.

Players must use strategies such as hacking computer systems, gathering information from online sources or finding objects hidden throughout the game's various levels in order to progress further into the narrative—all while avoiding hazards such as security forces or surveillance cameras which may be watching your every move.
