Together with their chimp crew they must free the aliens of Planet Malgor from imprisonment by the evil Zartog. Space Chimps is an action-adventure video game based on the 2008 movie of the same name. The game follows Ham III, a chimpanzee astronaut who is sent on a mission to explore a distant planet and rescue two stranded astronauts. Along the way, he encounters various aliens and creatures that must be defeated in order for him to progress through the story.

The game features 3D platforming and quick time events (QTEs) which require players to press buttons or move their analog sticks at certain points in order to complete objectives. Players are also able to upgrade their characters with new abilities as they progress through levels by collecting special items or completing challenges.
