Pikmin 2, released in 2004 for the GameCube, is a real-time strategy game developed and published by Nintendo. In Pikmin 2, players take on the role of Captain Olimar as he returns to the planet he was originally stranded on to collect trinkets for his failing company back at home. The game features an innovative two-character mechanic that allows players to switch between two spacemen while collecting items and managing their crew of Pikmin creatures.

In addition to its single player campaign mode, Pikmin 2 also includes two-player co-op challenge missions and a competitive multiplayer mode. In co-op challenges, both players must work together in order to complete objectives such as fighting bosses or completing puzzles. The competitive multiplayer mode pits teams of up to four against each other in races or battles with varying objectives depending on the map selected.
