Grand Theft Auto 2 is an action-adventure video game released in 1999 as a sequel to the classic Grand Theft Auto. It continues the open world concept introduced by its predecessor and allows players to freely roam Anywhere City, the setting of the game.

The gameplay is similar to that of its predecessor with players being able to take on missions from gangs or law enforcement agencies while also engaging in activities like carjacking and burglary. Unlike previous games in the series, GTA2 features multiple gangs controlling different areas of Anywhere City which require players to pay respect or risk retaliation from other gangs. The player can also choose their own gang allegiance which affects how other gangs react towards them throughout the game.

In addition to these new features, GTA2 includes various improvements such as better graphics and sound effects compared to its predecessor as well as a wider range of weapons available for use during combat sequences. Players are able to upgrade their cars with nitro boosts allowing them access hidden shortcuts during races or evade police pursuits more effectively.
