Players take control of Duke as he battles against the power-hungry villain, Mech Morphix, across towering skyscrapers and gritty subway stations. Along his journey, Duke will face over 25 uniquely dangerous mutated enemies such as Uzi-sporting alligators and ten-foot tall roach beasts. He must also avoid the green slime called GLOPP that is causing chaos around him while attempting to save babes in distress. To help him fight off these foes, Duke has access to weapons like a machine gun, pipe bombs, a rocket launcher and pulse cannon - making for a goo-filled mess in The Big Apple!

Duke Nukem is back, and this time he's taking his mighty boot to the Big Apple! In Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, the maniacal mech Morphix has used GLOPP (Gluon Liquid Omega-Phased Plasma) to transform the creatures of New York City into an army of bloodthirsty mutants. It's up to Duke Nukem to deploy WIN (Weapons, Insults and Name-Calling) in order to rid the city of goo-based bad guys.

Players take on a whole new challenge as they explore Manhattan from a third person perspective using classic weapons such as pipe bombs, freeze rays and shrink rays. There are plenty of enemies for Duke to defeat along his journey including giant mutated ants, rats and octopuses with guns that must be destroyed before they can cause more chaos. Players will also have opportunities to use vehicles like tanks or jetpacks during some levels which adds an extra level of excitement and complexity.

The game takes place over 14 stages located in various areas around Manhattan including Central Park, Wall Street and Chinatown where players must maneuver through hordes of monsters while collecting powerups that help them become even deadlier against their foes. As players progress through each stage there are secret areas where useful items can be found such as health packs or ammo upgrades that come in handy during later battles.
