DOOM Classic is an updated version of the original 1993 Doom shooter game developed by id Software and Nerve Software, and published by Bethesda Softworks. It features a sci-fi first-person shooter theme with improved graphics that use the Unity engine as a shell for the id Tech 1 engine.

The initial release of DOOM Classic saw mixed reviews due to its poor quality compared to previous console generation ports, as well as an always-online DRM requirement which forced players to sign into a Bethesda.net account in order to unlock Slayers Club rewards even though there was no online multiplayer feature present in the game. However, these issues have since been rectified through patches from Nerve Software.

On January 9th 2020, a PC version of DOOM Classic was released on Bethesda.net while later being re-released through Steam on September 3rd 2020 as free update for existing owners of The Ultimate Doom. This new PC version allows gamers who own prior versions or purchases made before August 15th 2017 available access to all three episodes (Knee Deep In The Dead, The Shores Of Hell & Inferno) completely free along with four deathmatch maps included at no additional cost either!
