Crackdown is an open world, third-person shooter video game for the Xbox 360. Set in the fictional Pacific City, Crackdown offers players a unique gaming experience by allowing them to take on the role of an Agent tasked with defeating three crime lords and their organized crime syndicates. Players are free to decide how they want to approach completing missions and activities, making for a nonlinear gameplay that encourages exploration and experimentation. With its innovative gameplay and features such as two-player cooperative play mode via Xbox Live, Crackdown has become one of the most beloved games released for the Xbox 360 console.

When initially planned for release on Microsoft’s original Xbox console, Crackdown was envisioned as a vast world filled with opportunities for players to explore freely. When it eventually did release on the Xbox 360 in 2007 it became an instant hit due both to positive reviews from critics and also because Microsoft bundled specially marked copies of Crackdown with access codes to Halo 3 Beta’s multiplayer test version – something which everybody wanted at that time. As testament to its success, within six months of release 1.5 million copies had sold worldwide!
