Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (also known as Ace Combat 5: Squadron Leader) is an intense flight simulator game featuring more than 50 different licensed planes, 30 missions and realistic graphics. Players can engage in air-to-air combat, air-to-ground fighting, air-to-sea assaults and other operations such as rescue and recon. One of the new features to this sequel is Wingman Command which allows players to issue directives mid mission for coordinated group attacks. There are also radio communications with both your squadron and enemies which adds a layer of realism to the dynamic battle sequences. The story takes place on Sand Island where Osea's 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron has intercepted an unidentified aircraft resulting in their decimation. You take on the role of a fighter pilot defending Osea from whatever may come its way.

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is a groundbreaking first-person air combat and flight simulator video game that was released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. This fifth installment of the Ace Combat series is set during an alternate version of the Belkan War, where players take on the role of a squadron commander tasked with leading their nation to victory.

Players can choose from 32 missions in campaign mode or opt for arcade mode, which puts them in control of Mobius One as they face endless waves of enemies. Once they are airborne, players will have complete control over speed, direction, altitude and weaponry including cannons and missiles. Players are also able to coordinate attacks using new features such as Wingmen commands and making decisions while flying mid-air.

The story progresses between missions through cutscenes featuring voice acting by various actors such as Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Steve Blum (Cowboy Bebop) and Kirsten Potter (Futurama).
